The Nakhal David stream named after King David is located on the north side of Ein Gedi. This majestic area was inhabited 5,000 years ago during Chalcolithic period and a temple from that time period has been excavated. King David, 3,000 years hid from King Saul in this area as well. (1 Samuel 23:29) And rare persimmon oil was produced there. Today, Ein Gedi is a beautiful oasis in the dessert.

Anatolia became a tile and ceramic center achieved a deservedly worldwide reputation with the support of the Ottoman court. Today, Kutahya is an important center of tile and ceramic-making as well as Iznik, Istanbul, and Bursa.

Veria (Beria) is a sea port city known for its famous amphitheater, forests and fruit- tree plantations. Agriculture thrives in this rainy culture. It is home to many historic remains from the time of Paul and in particular from the 16th -18th centuries. Veria (Berea) is mentioned in the book of Acts 17:1-13 as the place where the Jews were more noble than Thessaloniki in that they "searched the scripture" to see whether Paul's discourse was true or not.
