Another tidbit: Israel is the second largest exporter of the Pomegranate in the world. The Nakhal David stream named after King David is located on the north side of Ein Gedi. This majestic area was inhabited 5,000 years ago during Chalcolithic period and a temple from that time period has been excavated. King David, 3,000 years hid from King Saul in this area as well. (1 Samuel 23:29) And rare persimmon oil was produced there. Today, Ein Gedi is a beautiful oasis in the dessert.

Veria (Berea) is mentioned in the book of Acts 17:1-13 as the place where the Jews were more noble than Thessaloniki in that they "searched the scripture" to see whether Paul's discourse was true or not.
